Ella Goodwin is an illustrator and designer-maker whose work is very much influenced by her love of cats: kitties have been a constant in Ella’s life, and she’s inspired by their eccentric characters and independent spirit.
Ella Goodwin’s range of fine art prints and jewellery is available from her Etsy Shop, and Ella has very generously given Cool For Cats UK readers a 25% discount! To claim your discount use the code PERCYCOOLFORCATS at the checkout – code is valid until 31/05/2012.
I’m a big fan of Ella’s work and featured some of her prints on Cool For Cats UK last year; and now here’s a chance to see some more of her range.
The serene Mermaid Cat – 8 x 12 inch glicee fine art print, priced at £9.51
A saucy minx modelling her Octini – 8 x 12 giclee fine art print, priced at £9.51
I have a real soft spot for Percy, who features frequently in Ella’s work. Percy loves making things. He’s particularly keen on knitting, sewing and crochet – so am I, which partly explains why I like him so much, but I also like the fact that he goes against gender stereotypes by embracing what are traditionally seen as female activities.
Percy hard at work on his Catsuit – 8 x 10 glicee fine art print, priced at £9.51
Percy is also available in soft toy form (priced at £11.41 ), or as a PDF pattern, if you fancy making your own (£2.53). He pops up in Ella’s jewellery range too: Cat Necklace (£12.68); Knitting Cat Brooch, made from laser cut wood (£9.51).
Ella has plans for a children’s picture book later in the year based around Percy making and doing, using nothing but his imagination and a few scraps. The multi-talented Ella is also a costume maker, and plans to have some Percy fabric printed, which she will transform into dresses to add to her Etsy range.
Ella’s inspiration for Percy is her dad’s cat Persephone – who’s certainly a cutey. (Yes, Percy’s a boy and Persephone’s a girl, in case you were wondering!)
And now meet Tiger and Chewbacca, the two fluff-monsters that share Ella’s life. Here they are seemingly defying the laws of gravity in a radiator bed!
