Lucky Black Cat Table Lamp

lucky black cat table lamp from dunelm mill

This stylish black cat table lamp will add a touch of understated glamour to any room.  And it’s a bit of a bargain!  Available for £12.99 from Dunelm Mill.

This lamp has a ceramic base and a synthetic shade. Measurements: diameter 25cm; height 43cm.

Black cats are enduringly popular in the worlds of home decor and fashion, so obviously have mass visual-appeal.  Bearing that in mind, why is it that black cats are the least popular colour choice for most people who are adopting a new cat, and often spend long periods of time in rescue centres waiting for a forever home?  Doesn’t make sense, does it?  All theories welcome!

Cat Lamps by Light Art

Lottie the Dalston Cat Lamp – available in white, pink and orange – is by Myra Heller, and was designed in her East London studio, Light Art.

The lovely Lottie is made from durable thermoplastic by the German lamp company Heico.  Each lamp is individually hand finished using a technique which gives a seamless body with no ugly joins.

Lottie is lit by a super low-energy LED bulb, and emits a soft glow; which makes her ideal for a children’s night light and equally suitable as a quirky ornament for other areas of your home.

Lottie measures H40cm x W20cm x D20cm, and is available for £65 (which includes p&p within the UK) from Light Art and Not on the High Street.

Cat Lamps by Matt Pugh Design

I do like a well-designed piece of homeware, which is eco-friendly, and functional as well as beautiful; and these cat lamps by British designer Matt Pugh certainly tick all the right boxes.

The elegant cat silhouettes are hand crafted in Matt’s workshop, and are available in either oak (pictured with red shade) or dark cherry wood.  Matt designs with sustainability in mind – he uses natural materials for their timeless qualities and minimal impact on the environment, and each one of his pieces is ‘made to last more than a lifetime’.

The lamps are fitted with standard brass lamp fittings and measure H36cm x W15cm x D5cm.  You can choose either a white or red shade, with or without tassles.

Matt’s cat lamps are available from his online shop at Matt Pugh Design for £120.00 (plus £8.50 p&p within the UK).

Cat Lamps

These cat lamps certainly have plenty of kitsch-appeal.  They are produced by German company, Heico, and are made in a secret factory in the heart of Germany by dwarves and Elvis – check out their website if you don’t believe me!

All Heico lamps are made from moulded heat-resistant plastic (so have no visible seams), and are hand-finished – presumably by Mr Presley and his supernatural friends.

The cat lamps stand at 39cm tall, and produce a soft, ambient light.  They are available from UK company Good Gracious for £54.99 (inc p&p in the UK).

(PS: If you’re a fan of all things kitsch, the Good Gracious website is well worth a look – there’s loads of fabulous stuff on there.)
