The London-based Lush Designs team have added some tableware to their popular Pussycat range of products. This time the rococo kitties feature on a bone china mug and 20.5cm diameter side plate, which are both embellished with real gold. I love the attention to detail in these designs; if you look closely you can see the cats are having butterfly cakes – with real butterflies – for afternoon tea!
This tableware is available from the Lush Designs website. Prices: single mugs £15.00 or £52.00 for a set of four; single plates £23.00 or £88.00 for a set of four.
If your ever find yourself in Greenwich, I can thoroughly recommend a visit to the Lush Designs Shop – it’s a treasure trove of lovely goodies.
I really like the clean, simple design, featuring a mischievous and alert-looking long-haired cat, on this tableware collection by Nadia Sparham. The collection includes a mug, coffee cup and saucer, and plates in three sizes: 15.2cm; 20.3cm and 25.5cm. Nadia’s tableware is available from her Not on the High Street shop. Prices from £15.00.
If you’re looking for a gift for the cat lover in your life, or indeed a treat for yourself, you should definitely check out madoldcatlady.comCards, art prints, crockery, bags, tea towels and t-shirts; the Mad Old Cat Lady has them all. Many feature her signature fat ‘n’ floofeh cats, and quirky sense of humour; while more serious types are catered for with her beautiful art nouveau-influenced designs.
The Mad Old Cat Lady was previously involved in the media/music industry, but now lives in Brighton and spends her time drawing, printing and writing. She has two cats, Sabbath and Morrigan. Sabbath is the ‘absolute love of her life’. (But apparently her partner does come a very close second!)
Something there for everyone, I’m sure you’ll agree! (I’ve linked the photos to the relevant pages on the Mad Old Cat Lady website.)
These bone china mugs featuring bold graphic cat illustrations are part of the Silhouette range from award-winning Staffordshire-based design duo Repeat Repeat.
Repeat Repeat are Gillian Naylor and Mark Faulkner who produce a huge range of beautifully-designed tableware, and continue the long tradition of pottery manufacture in Stoke-on-Trent.
The Silhouette cat mugs are available in four colours (green, blue, pink and orange), and can be purchased from the Repeat Repeat website for £8.65.
These mugs accomplish the rare feat of being both attractive and amusing (never a bad thing in any walk of life), and are certainly a cut above the ‘I Heart My Cat’ examples of naffness that I occasionally receive as gifts. (I fear I may just have made a grave error of judgement in exposing myself as such an ingrate when I have a birthday coming up; but it’s a risk I’m willing to take.)
Faye Moorhouse is a freelance illustrator from Brighton. Her work is characterised by the use of simple brush strokes and colour washes, and a pervading dark humour. Faye’s designs are available from her Etsy Shop.

These next items are from Faye’s macabre Cat Ladies of Czechoslovakia series. The Cat Lady characters are taken from an imagined Czechoslavakian folk tale about nine mysterious cat-loving women, with a powerfully unpleasant odour and a dark secret…

…. A new take on the cat-as-child-substitute theory, maybe? There’s something irresistibly intriguing about the smelly ladies – I’d love to hear the full version of their folk tale.
Faye Moorhouse also has a website, if you’d like to view more of her work.
